Out of interest what version of linux. I tried out brush manager some months ago on my Mepis 8 machine without much success. It is looking old-ish, made for gimp 2.4.x Now I'm running gimp 2.6.7 with gurm which is an updated, extended version of brush manager and it is excellent. see: http://registry.gimp.org/node/13473 and http://forum.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=3293 might be worth a try -- rich

The GNU/Linux one.
(Sorry, couldn't resist. It is a joke: laugh!)

I'm rather sure this has to do with the Gimp update I mentioned. Not sure about unknowingly updated libraries, though.

This (Mepis8 - Debian) machine has Python 2.5 and 2.4 installed. Distrowatch lists OpenSuse 11.1 as coming with ver 2.6 - Opensuse 11, python v2.5. Long time since I tried SuSE but there must be some record of installation history in the package manager. -- rich
